Market heatmap — the whole board in one glance

Size is market cap, colour is the move. Switch between the last hour, 24 hours and 7 days to see whether the market is trading as one block or a few names are doing the work.

Why breadth matters more than any single box

A red board with one green box is a market selling everything and one story resisting; a green board with a red Bitcoin is rarer and usually short-lived. Before you credit a coin with strength, check whether the board did the same thing — a 4% rise on a day when everything rose 4% is the tide, not the swimmer. The live prices page lists the same 50 with volume, and the lesson chart shows what the move looks like candle by candle.

Questions people ask

How do I read the heatmap?

Each box is a coin; the bigger the box, the larger its market cap; green is up, red is down for the period selected, and the deeper the colour the larger the move. Bitcoin's box dominates because its market cap does — that is the picture of why 'altcoins follow BTC' is usually true.

Where does the data come from?

Market caps and the 1h/24h/7d changes come from CoinGecko through our market feed, refreshed every minute; prices and 24h changes tick live from a public exchange WebSocket between refreshes. Stablecoins are shown in grey so they do not read as 'flat winners'.

What does a mostly-green or mostly-red board tell me?

Breadth. When 45 of 50 boxes share a colour the market is moving as one, usually on macro or liquidation flows; when the board is mixed, individual stories are driving. Neither is a signal — it is context for how much of a coin's move is its own.

Why are some boxes too small to label?

Because market cap is extremely concentrated: the fiftieth coin is often a hundredth the size of Bitcoin. Hover or tap any box for its name, price and change.

Risk reminder: a heatmap describes the last hour, day or week; it does not predict the next one. Most retail traders lose money.
