What is Monero?
Monero is a privacy coin in which every transaction is private by default, using ring signatures, stealth addresses and confidential amounts. Because balances cannot be traced, many large exchanges have delisted it; liquidity is thinner and mostly on specialist venues.
What to know before trading XMR
Privacy coins carry a specific risk: exchanges in some countries delist them, which thins liquidity and can trap holders. Check that your venue supports withdrawals before you buy, and expect wider spreads than on majors.
Whatever the coin, the arithmetic is the same: decide the dollar risk first, place the stop where the idea is wrong, and let the stop-loss calculator turn it into a size. If you are new, Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 come before any chart.

Questions people ask
What is Monero in one sentence?
Monero is a privacy coin in which every transaction is private by default, using ring signatures, stealth addresses and confidential amounts.
Where does the XMR price on this page come from?
It ticks live from a public exchange WebSocket (Binance, Coinbase as fallback) and is backed by our market feed (CoinGecko, refreshed every minute) for market cap, volume and the all-time high.
Is Monero a good investment?
TradingPrimer does not give buy or sell advice. The page shows what Monero is, how it has traded and what risks come with its category; the decision, the size and the exit are yours — and the lessons on position sizing and drawdown are where to start before any of them.
Where can I trade XMR?
On most large exchanges. Our exchanges page compares the venues we use and says which links are referral links.
